Present in the Porsche Carrera Cup France since its inaugural season in 2012, the Sébastien Loeb Racing team is getting ready to explore new horizons. The team, co-founded by Sébastien Loeb and Dominique Heintz, will indeed debut in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup next weekend at Barcelona with two Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars. Four other appearances are already planned, at Monaco, Hockenheim (Germany), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) and Sotchi (Russia)! In Spain, Roland Bervillé and Roar Lindland will be on track. The Norwegian will be accompanied by Maxime Jousse at Monaco.
Dominique Heintz: « A logical step in our international expansion… »
Véritable True cornerstone of the Sébastien Loeb Racing since its first competitive efforts, the Porsche Carrera Cup program will enter a new dimension. While the third year began in France, where four titles have already been won, the Alsacian team will compete in five rounds of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, the pinnacle of Porsche cups, raced in support of Formula 1. « It’s a logical step in our international expansion, » admits Dominique Heintz. « We have raced in GT and in Protos at the European level, it made sense to explore new playing fields in Porsche Cup. It’s a starting point before considering a full-time presence in 2015. That’s our hope, but the level is so high that we have to take the time to properly put together this Supercup program. We will ramp up gradually, allow different drivers to race, everyone will be able to amass valuable experience. We are going to measure ourselves according to what works best with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. We know we will have to be patient and we’re humbled by the task we have to accomplish. »
Roar Lindland: « It may be difficult, but it will be worth it! »
Roar Lindland, who joined the Sébastien Loeb Racing team last winter and who will be present at Barcelona, has already raced in Supercup. « It’s the most competitive single-seater cup and one of the loftiest championships in the world, » he confirmed. « The races are very competitive, the battles very tight, and you have to have experience. We are about to go through an important season because it is part of a long-term grand scheme. The team will experience the Supercup and, together, we have chosen the most trying circuits, like Monaco, Spa and potentially Sotchi. But it’s on the tracks that we will learn the most. It may be difficult, but it will be worth it! I want to do better than in my first Supercup season. I want to improve and continue to do so. »
Roland Bervillé: « Ideal for sizing oneself up against seasoned drivers. »
Pilote Team driver in the GT Championship of France, Roland Bervillé will also be at the start of the Spanish round. He will participate once again in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. « I competed in a full season in 2002 and I am used to racing in several rounds as opportunities present themselves,» he says. « It’s a championship I enjoy, as part of F1 and with a high level organization. The tracks are fantastic and it’s ideal for sizing oneself up against seasoned drivers.
I like Barcelona, a circuit at which I have benchmarks and where I will be able to feel out the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. After the 993, the 996 and the 997, I will now drive the 991! It will be good as well to accumulate race kilometers and to be in an extended rhythm before resuming the GT Championship of France at the end of May in Lédenon. I hope thereafter to be in Sotchi: it will be interesting and pleasant to race on a new track. »
Maxime Jousse: « I am taking a new step.
At Monaco, though Roar Lindland will take part, the second Porsche 911 GT3 Cup entered by Sébastien Loeb Racing will be entrusted to Maxime Jousse. The young Frenchman, who is aiming for the title in France, will make his first appearance in Supercup and at Monaco. « It is an excellent opportunity and I am thrilled to share this experiencee with the team,» he underscores. « I succeeded in bringing together local partners and I thank them:I am taking a new step, after my first season in France or even participating in the Porsche International Cup Scholarship Program.
« To race at Monaco, it’s a dream not to mention an exciting challenge! I am going in without pressure, to learn and with a lot of humility, but I am competitive. So I want to make a showing and garner the most experience possible, the Supercup being one of my short-term goals. »
Present in the European Le Mans Series with an ORECA 03 LM P2 and an Audi R8 LMS ultra, in the GT Championship of France with two Audi R8 LMS ultra and in the Porsche Carrera Cup France with six Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars, the Sébastien Loeb Racing will benefit from a wild card for five rounds of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
