Sebastian Landy Ready for Barber IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Weekend

Sebastian Landy (Great Falls, Va.) is ready for rounds three and four of the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama doubleheader at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend.

Landy is coming off of a successful season opener at Sebring a month ago where he ran sixth and fourth in the opening two rounds behind the wheel of the Alex Job Racing prepared No.49 Porsche 911 GT. Landy and the team took advantage of the opportunity to attend the mid-February test at the 2.3-mile, 15-turn Barber circuit located east of Birmingham.

“It’s difficult to say just how much from our earlier testing will translate to this upcoming weekend,” Landy said. “Track conditions weren’t optimal when we were there last, but we were able to get a lot of work done in terms of understanding the car and how we should approach the set-up for this weekend. We’ve obviously come a long way in learning the car since then, so hopefully we can take what we learned when we were here and apply it with what we learned at the first race weekend in Sebring.

“In a series as tight and competitive as this one, qualifying is always going to be vital. Even more so at a track like Barber, where passing is going to be difficult. We’re going to do the best we can to maximize everything in qualifying and get the best starting position possible.

“Aside from the testing that I’ve done there before at the beginning of this season, I’ve never been to Barber to actually race! However, from the laps that I’ve done, and the races I’ve seen there, it looks like it will be a lot of fun when we get down to business!”

“We put in a lot of laps at the mid-February Barber test with Sebastian,” team owner, Alex Job said. “We have a good baseline to start the weekend and it is good that Sebastian had the opportunity to see and drive the track. That will only shorten our learning curve for this weekend and hopefully give us an advantage over most of the field.”

The IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama series at Barber Motorsports Park will run April 21-23.
