The season opener of the German Endurance Championship (VLN) at the Nuerburgring Nordschleife paid off with a win for Mühlner Motorsport! The first of the nine races was a full success for the Team around Renate-Carola and Bernhard Mühlner.
Back on track with a GT3 Porsche at the Nordschleife
The GT3 CUP Porsche #123 was piloted by Marcel Hoppe, Moritz Kranz and Tim Scheerbarth during the first round of 2018 season on the 24 km “green hell”.
Starting on P2, the team had a fight worth watching with the pole setter before snatching the win with dedicated and hard work on track and the pits as well.
„Even though we only had very little time to prepare, we had already a good performance at the first race, especially our long-term experience with the 911 Porsche paid off”, commented team boss Bernhard Mühlner.
It is planed to participate also with a second Porsche 991 GT3 Cup (#124) in the next VLN race on April 7th.
Solid start for juniors in the Porsche Cayman GT4 Trophy
Beside the leading Porsche 911 in Cup2, Mühlner Motorsport brought their new Junior Team to the first round of VLN. Sascha Köhler, Timo Mölig and Felix Günther finished on the podium at their first appearance in the MABANOL Porsche Cayman GT4. The third place, just 4 tenth off P2, was a very good result for the Juniors, who will be prepared for the international GT racing by Mühlner Motorsport.
With Cayman #969, Mühlner Motorsport had another car ready to fight in the Cayman Trophy: Moritz Kranz, current Champion in the Cayman Trophy, drove together with Michael Rebhan in the second Tropyh Cayman. They were able to secure an extra point for the fastest lap but an additional pit stop, due to a slow puncture, made it impossible to score a better result than P5 in the strong Cayman Trophy class Cup3.
