TRG returned to the sun-soaked streets of Long Beach for the 44th running of the Long Beach Grand Prix, battling to a hard-fought third-place finish in Sunday’s Pirelli World Challenge GT4 Invitational Sprint race in the #66 TRG Porsche Cayman GT4 MR. Driver Spencer Pumpelly handled the challenging oceanside street course with skill and determination in front of a large crowd of TRG guests.
The weekend began on the track with a solid practice session on Friday afternoon. The car performed well and the team received key data in preparation for Saturday’s qualifying session. A quick 20 minute early morning practice session Saturday was immediately followed by qualifying. Pumpelly laid down a quick lap of 1:26.418, within a half second of of the lead car.
“It was a fantastic weekend for the #66 TRG Porsche and everyone on the TRG team,” says Pumpelly. “We were quick in practice and able to start Sunday’s race on the front row. We had a great car all weekend and challenged for the lead but we cannot keep up on top speed with the front running cars in our class.” On the restart, Pumpelly found himself shuffled back one spot, but the car remained in contention until the checkered flag. “Long Beach is an amazing event with great energy and it was an honor to be part of TRG this weekend,” he continues. “I appreciate everyone who supports our team and makes these race weekends possible.”
