GT World Challenge Asia heads to Sportsland SUGO for penultimate round of 2022 campaign

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific customers are set to take on Sportsland SUGO in Round 4 of the 2022 GT World Challenge Asia campaign this weekend, the penultimate round of the season.

EBM Giga Racing’s Setiawan Santoso and Reid Harker will be looking for a return to form in the #8 Porsche 911 GT3 R, while Hiroaki Nagai and Yuta Kamimura aim to build on their podium finishes at Suzuka and Fuji Speedway for Porsche Center Okazaki as they try to chase down the Japan Cup leaders.

Fresh from his appearance at the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa three weeks ago, Tanart Sathienthirakul returns to the series alongside Kantadhee Kusiri for AAS Motorsport. The pair enjoyed a strong weekend last time out, securing their first podium finish of the season.

Australian duo Andrew MacPherson and Ben Porter have the opportunity to secure the GT3-Am title for AMAC Motorsport. Driving the #51 Porsche 911 GT3 R (991), they can complete the defence of their crown from 2019 this weekend if results go their way.

Located a few miles south of the city of Sendai, Sportsland SUGO is Japan’s largest motorsport facility. The 3.7-kilometre circuit is quick and technical, with elevation changes adding another challenge for the drivers.

Qualifying and Race 1 take place on Saturday 20 August, while Race 2 is on Sunday.

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “The GT World Challenge Asia season has been a positive one for Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific so far, and with all four of our cars capable of fighting for podium finishes, we’re hoping for another strong round at Sportsland SUGO. It’s the first time the series has visited this circuit, so I’m looking forward to see how our drivers adapt to the track. Good luck to all the teams and we can’t wait to watch them race!”
