Tom Oliphant is preparing for the biggest race weekend of his blossoming career to date next weekend (09/10 July) as he enters the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and races in support of the Formula One British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Up to thirty identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars will battle it out around the iconic Grand Prix circuit at the ‘Home of British Motorsport’, with Oliphant getting the opportunity to go head-to-head with the best Carrera Cup drivers in the world in his Redline Racing 911.

The sole race of the weekend will take place on the morning of the British Grand Prix itself, meaning over 100,000 fans will be watching trackside, whilst many more will be tuning into live television coverage on Eurosport.

The Supercup debut will be Oliphant’s second race weekend on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit this season, having stormed to a pair of top five finishes in the Carrera Cup GB races back in April, which took place in support of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Following an impressive first half of his maiden Porsche Carrera Cup GB campaign, in which Oliphant has finished every race inside the top six so far, the Mulgari, Bandera, Horizon and Clearview Coaching-backed racer is looking forward to seeing how he shapes up against the Supercup field.

Tom Oliphant: “I’m very excited to be entering into the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race. It’s always been a goal for me to compete at a Formula 1 event, especially the British Grand Prix, which is the biggest event to race on in the UK.

“I know this is one of the toughest single make series in the world and I’m going out to prove I can compete. I feel that having already raced this year on the track with WEC, the Brits have an advantage.

“My aim is to secure a top ten finish, but I’ll be pushing for the top five and to be the top guest driver.”

The Mobil 1 Supercup is the most competitive Carrera Cup series in the world and runs solely in support of Formula One. The championship has proven to be a proving ground for a number of successful GT and sportscar racers, including 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours winner Earl Bamber.

The Silverstone action will kick off with a 45 minute practice session on Friday afternoon, before a 30 minute qualifying session on Saturday at 11:25. The race, which will run over 13 laps or 30 minutes, will kick off at 10:35 on Sunday, a few hours before the Grand Prix.
