The Heart of Racing Poised to Capture TPNAEC at Petit

heart-of-racing-cotaThe Heart of Racing team is poised to win the race within the race at the season finale IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta this weekend, September. 28 – October 4.

The Heart of Racing drivers Mario Farnbacher, Alex Riberas and Ian James are focused on winning the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup (TPNAEC). The Heart of Racing team currently leads the TPNAEC race by one point in the GTD Class. The team has posted four pole positions and one win on the season. The 2.4-mile, 12-turn Road Atlanta track, located an hour north of Atlanta, will play host to the 10-hour Petit Le Mans race for the 18th year.

“To win this weekend we will employ our total team approach,” Farnbacher said. “Ian is back driving with us and we have a great crew and great overall team. We will work together during the race week to develop a good set-up so we can race hard for 10-hours. We always showed that we are capable to finish on the podium. As drivers we will need to keep our nose clean so we have a good race car for the last hour of the race.”

“We’re always feeling strong for this race,” Riberas said. “Road Atlanta suits our Porsche 911 GT3R and we’re going to go with everything we have to clinch the TPNAEC title. We had a winning car at COTA (Circuit of the Americas) and we will have another winning package for Petit Le Mans. I have the ultimate confidence in my crew and my co-drivers to go and win the race. To be successful we have to be clever with the strategy to be upfront for most of the race, then we will have to make sure we stay out of trouble and keep the car running fast.”

“In 2014 we were strong and lost the win on the last lap when Alex got crashed out,” James said. “In 2015 we had some car issues. We need to have a trouble free run and I am sure we will be near the front come Saturday night. I think the Porsche will be strong at Road Atlanta, The 911 GT3R likes everything about the track except the long straightaway. Zero mistakes will be the key to the race. There are too many good cars and drivers in GTD so you need a trouble free race.”

“Mario, Alex and Ian have been looking forward to this race since Watkins Glen,” Team Owner Alex Job said. “We have had success at Petit Le Mans and we typically shine in the longer events. With the close competition in the GTD Class, ten teams can win the TPNAEC, it will take a perfect run to win the race and the cup.”
