The Racers Group (TRG) concluded an outstanding weekend of racing Saturday in the IMSA WeatherTech Advanced Auto Parts Showdown at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas (COTA), one of the world’s most iconic and challenging race courses and one in which TRG has enjoyed a long history of success. Extraordinary young Texan driving duo of 16-year old Parker Chase and 17-year old Harry Gottsacker turned in exceptional performances in TRG’s number 991 Porsche GT3 R GTD race car, moving on up in their very first foray in the elite IMSA WeatherTech series as part of the TRG team in front of over 70 VIP guests, partners, family and friends, deep in the heart of Texas.
Before the COTA race weekend even began, Parker and Harry flew across the pond to Dallas, having just competed in the British GT series at Rockingham. Testing was on the schedule Tuesday, and the two young drivers climbed into the 991 Porsche for the first time proving how professional, fast and capable they are. These two young racers have already achieved marked success in motorsports at the professional level and were more than ready to step up to the elite competitive world of IMSA with top sportscar racing team TRG and one of the most respected badges in all of motorsport, Porsche, right in their backyard at COTA.
The pair’s consistency in the Porsche throughout the entire race weekend certainly impressed, as they more than kept up with their older and more experienced rivals in practice, qualifying and during the race, running more than a hundred laps, all the while gaining valuable insight, providing pointed feedback for the team and improving stint after stint. The team, crew and drivers all performed at the very top level, completing the weekend by achieving more than was even expected in the car and running a clean and solid race on Saturday.
“We were all just so impressed with Parker and Harry on their first big IMSA outing here — I mean they really got it done”, stated team owner Kevin Buckler. ““The drivers here in GTD are some of the best pilots in the world and these guys showed that they can drive here. They were clean, fast and smart the entire time and really put a “W” up on the board in hitting all our marks. This was the big leagues. A big thanks to Stuart Robinson from Performance Motorsports Group and to all of Harry and Parker’s family, friends and sponsors who came out to support this stellar first effort.
There is so much potential for growth and I’m really excited about the opportunity we have as we learn, grow and develop with the boys in the future. The sky’s the limit and we look forward to future races and to see what these two can continue to do behind the wheel and with the power of TRG behind them. I was very impressed this weekend all around.”
Performance Motorsport Group and its CEO Stuart Robinson were an integral part of that success, having worked hand in hand with TRG CEO Kevin Buckler to make the incredible deal to bring Parker and Harry to the team and to lay the foundation for their future success in IMSA and beyond. TRG also welcomed Probalance Protein Water as a new member of our sponsorship team and family, cementing a great racing and business partnership. And of course, no race weekend could be complete without LaSalle Solutions and their continued support.
Race weekends are an amazing environment for building B2B relationships and networking in the TRG paddock and beyond. People who had just met each other while joining us trackside were able to discuss business opportunities for their companies and those conversations didn’t end at the track.
