Park Place Motorsports Continues Success in SRO Sprint with Win, Fourth Place Finish

Park Place Motorsports and Alan Brynjolfsson in the No. 7 VOLT Lighting Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR finish the opening weekend of SRO Pirelli GT4 America Sprint with a win in Round One and a fourth-place finish in Round Two at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

Brynjolfsson pulled off his first solo weekend with ease and kept Park Place Motorsports at the top of the time charts all weekend. Race One saw Brynjolfsson drop back after starting third in the Am class, but he steadily made ground on competitors. Brynjolfsson took advantage of his peer’s mistakes making passes for position each restart. He pushed his  Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR past the No. 51 of Preston Calvert as they entered a tight turn on the final restart for the win.

Race One marked Brynjolfsson’s first win in his first appearance on a street course. The streets of St. Petersburg are the home track to both Brynjolfsson and his company VOLT Lighting.

“Race One was awesome,” Brynjolfsson said. “Not only is it my first street course but racing at home is unbelievable. I was not expecting this at all. I didn’t know what I was going to get [racing] a street circuit. To have my first win on a street circuit here is special. It’s been a great two weeks, and I’m very happy. Thank you to Mike and the whole team.”

Brynjolfsson started Round Two sixth, from Row 6 in the Am class. As time elapsed, he slowly chipped away at the distance between his No. 7 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR and the cars ahead advancing to fifth. With 10 minutes remaining Brynjolfsson was one of the faster cars on track turning a 1:20.078, the second fastest lap of the race in the Am class. Clean racing turned to rough racing as Brynjolfsson, and the top five Am competitors sorted out position. Brynjolfsson was pushed wide and spun while avoiding contact. He then determinedly charged back to the front and made a last-minute pass for fourth.

“Finishing the weekend with a win and right outside of podium contention is a great weekend in my book,” said Team Principal Patrick Lindsey. “The team did a great job. They’re pushing hard, two weeks in a row now. I don’t feel like the performance has faltered at all. Alan, what can you say about his performance? No one ever wins at their home track. He did, and it’s a street circuit, his first street circuit none the less. I’m incredibly impressed with his driving. I hope his success continues.”

Brynjolfsson and Park Place Motorsports leave St. Petersburg, Florida with three consecutive wins in SRO action after Brynjolfsson and teammate Trent Hindman took home two wins in the SRO Pirelli GT America EAST championship at Circuit of the Americas. The next race on the calendar for the No. 7 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR is the Long Beach Grand Prix on the streets of Long Beach, California. Park Place Motorsports competes in the Sprint Championship again that weekend.
