Wright Motorsports Looks to Maximize Results at Road America

As the SRO America season winds down, Wright Motorsports is preparing for this week’s penultimate round at Road America. The team will look right the ship and push for some points with Scott Hargrove and Patrick Long’s No. 58 Porsche Consulting Porsche 911 GT3 R and Anthony Imperato and Matt Campbell’s No. 91 Pro/Am class Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Wright Motorsport’s strong history of results at the 4-mile, 14-turn road course gives the team a sense of confidence heading to the race weekend.

Long’s Road America history beams of success with five victories to date — three of which have been in Wright Motorsports prepared Porsche 911 GT3 Rs. While most of Hargrove’s experience at the road course comes from the open wheel ranks, he’s certainly no stranger the podium. The Porsche Selected Driver also scored a podium driving a Porsche 911 GT3 R in his 2018 SRO America championship season.

A season of mix results- highlighted with four podiums and a win in Sonoma- has Long and Hargrove tied for fifth in the Pro-class points chase. While the duo remains in championship conversation, they look to capitalize on what their Porsche 911 GT3 is capable of and finish out strong for Porsche.

The Wisconsin road course remains a special one for Imperato who earned his first podium there in a WM prepared Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. Since then, he has driven the Porsche 911 GT3 R in both IMSA competition this year and in the 2018 SRO America round, where he saw a podium.

This marks the first familiar track on the calendar for Campbell, who earned a victory driving a Porsche 911 GT3 R last month, in what was his first visit to Road America. Returning to the team for the first time since the Sonoma round, the Porsche Young Professional is set to team with Imperato for all of the remaining stops on the schedule.

At this point, Imperato stands alone, third in the Pro/Am championship, with just a 3-point gap to second and 24-point gap to the class leaders. After seven podiums in ten races, the No. 91 squad look to close the gap and aim for their first win of the season.

PATRICK LONG
No. 58 Wright Motorsports/ Porsche Consulting Porsche 911 GT3 R

“The Porsches have been strong the last few years at Road America. With that, we come in with the confidence that we can battle with the cars that have been filling the podium. It’s always a fun part of the country to travel to and I think the weather will be opportune for some great racing. I’m looking forward to getting back on the horse and finishing out the season with some good results for the Wright Motorsports team and Porsche.”

SCOTT HARGROVE
No. 58 Wright Motorsports/Porsche Consulting Porsche 911 GT3 R

“Road America is one of my favorite tracks on the calendar and I think it should be a strong circuit for the Porsche. The track has a lot of fun characteristics. I really enjoy the heavy braking zones, especially down into Turn 5 and Canada Corner. I think it really separates some of the cars on the grid and hopefully will favor us. Our focus is solely on maximizing results. We’re not in the top three of the championship yet, so we’re going to push flat out and see if we can claw back some points at a track that I love and should suit our car quite well.”

ANTHONY IMPERATO
No. 91 Wright Motorsports  Porsche 911 GT3 R

“I’m excited to get to Road America. It’s a track that I know well and the home track of Henry Repeating Arms so I always enjoy racing there. I’m also looking forward to team back up with Matt. There are only two rounds left in the championship so our goal is to race for as many points as we can and push for our first victory.”

MATT CAMPBELL
No. 91 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R

“I’m looking forward to rejoining Wright Motorsports in the SRO America championship. It’s been a while since Sonoma, with Dennis [Olsen] joining the team for a couple of rounds in between. It will be nice to drive at Road America again. I had a good first experience there during the IMSA event last month and really enjoy the circuit. I expect this weekend and Vegas to be a nice, close couple of rounds and I’m looking forward to it.”
