Big celebrations for Dylan Pereira and his Förch Racing squad in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland: After claiming victory at Saturday’s race, the racing driver from Luxembourg went on to win both of Sunday’s races held as part of the ADAC GT Masters programme. Thanks to his hat-trick at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, the 23-year-old moves to the top of the leaderboard in the national one-make cup. “We found an excellent setup for all races. At the second race on Sunday, the start proved decisive when I managed to manoeuvre to the front of the field. Leading the championship feels great, but it’ll be a tough fight all the way to the finale,” concluded Pereira.
In the first race on Sunday, Pereira got off the line better than first-time polesitter Laurin Heinrich (Germany/T3/HRT Motorsport) – with the Förch driver winning the sprint to the first corner in his 485 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Pereira then proceeded to pull clear of the field and underlined his title ambitions with a convincing victory. Second place went to Larry ten Voorde (Nebulus Racing by Huber). The Dutchman also overtook Heinrich early on in the race. “My first laps were good, but I couldn’t get past Dylan. With a view to the overall standings, the result is somewhat disappointing, but we’ll take a good look at that as a team,” said ten Voorde. Heinrich reached the flag in third place as the best driver from the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland Talent Pool – the one-make cup’s youth development programme. Jukka Honkavuori (Finland/MRS-GT Racing) and Rudy van Buren (Netherlands/CarTech Motorsport by Nigrin) rounded off the top five.
At the start of the second race on Sunday, Pereira was again poised to pounce: From position three, he made a catapult start to sweep past both ten Voorde and polesitter Heinrich. Even at the restart after a safety car phase, Pereira stayed focussed and was the first to see the chequered flag ahead of Heinrich after 21 laps. “When you start from pole position, you hope to win, of course. But I knew how experienced my pursuers were, so second place is a great result for me,” concluded Heinrich. His teammate Leon Köhler (T3/HRT Motorsport) crossed the finish line third on the 4.318-kilometre racetrack, only to be disqualified after the race due to his vehicle’s non-compliance with technical regulations. As a consequence, 24-year-old ten Voorde inherited the third podium step. Fourth and fifth went to Kay van Berlo (Netherlands/Nebulus Racing by Huber) and Honkavuori.
Carlos Rivas (Luxembourg/Black Falcon Team Textar) won both ProAm-category races on Sunday. After the first event, Stefan Rehkopf (Germany/Nebulus Racing by Huber) and Georgi Donchev (Bulgaria/Overdrive Racing by Huber) joined him on the ProAm podium, with Matthias Jeserich (CarTech Motorsport by Nigrin) and Rehkopf scoring second and third in Sunday’s second race. Felix Neuhofer (Overdrive Racing by Huber) experienced a special weekend at Spielberg. On home turf, the Austrian earned valuable points for eleventh place in Sunday’s second race.
After seven of eleven races, tension is rising in the championship: Pereira now leads the series with 154 points ahead of ten Voorde (146 points). Heinrich trails the pair with 90 points. “Three entertaining races with lots of fierce yet fair duels – that’s exactly what the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland is all about. Everything is still wide open in the championship and I’m curious to see how the title fight will continue,” said Hurui Issak, Project Manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.
For the next two races on the 2020 calendar, the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland travels with the ADAC GT Masters to the Lausitzring (30 October to 1 November). The racetrack in Brandenburg replaces the original venue at the Circuit Zandvoort in the Netherlands on the same date. Due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the Netherlands and the restrictions imposed due to the risk level, the ADAC GT Masters made a decision to change the venue.
