Larry ten Voorde wins the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland race at Most

Larry ten Voorde (Overdrive Racing by Huber) continues his winning streak in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland: At the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic, the Dutchman celebrated his third win of the season on Saturday. Behind ten Voorde’s 485 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, Porsche Junior Julien Andlauer (F/BWT Lechner Racing) and Michael Ammermüller (D/BWT Lechner Racing) occupied the other two podium spots. “My start was great and I just managed to pull clear of Michael Ammermüller. We then got into a fierce duel, but we both kept it fair at all times. After the restart I was able to open the gap and didn’t make any mistakes,” said ten Voorde.

This marks the first time in the 30-year history of the national one-make cup that a championship race is held on the racetrack in northern Bohemia. Under sunny skies and in temperatures of 21 degrees Celsius, ten Voorde made a cracking start and immediately got past pole-sitter Ammermüller. However, the Lechner driver refused to give up and looked for a gap to make a counter move. The safety car phase, however, initially thwarted Ammermüller’s attempts. Ten Voorde used the restart to pull clear of his pursuers. After 17 laps, the 22-year-old crossed the finish line in first place. Andlauer reached the chequered flag in second place after overtaking his teammate Ammermüller in lap eleven. “I can easily live with this result. Michael Ammermüller was actually a little faster than me, but in such a situation you just have to wait for a mistake,” said Andlauer.

Ammermüller expressed his disappointment after the race: “I could definitely have done better. In the first laps I was faster than Larry ten Voorde – but I had to back off because of the safety car. After the restart I made a mistake and slid slightly onto the gravel. Unfortunately, it was only good for third place.” Fourth position went to the best rookie Jaxon Evans (NZ/Team Project 1 – JBR). “Fourth gives me confidence for Sunday’s race. My start was pretty good and I managed to make up one position at the start, which I then lost in the first lap unfortunately. Ultimately, the decisive factor was that I managed to avoid a collision in front of me between two cars,” concluded the Porsche Junior from New Zealand.

Dylan Pereira (Lechner Racing Team) took the flag on the 4.212-kilometre racetrack in position five. Finishing behind the Luxembourger were Igor Walilko (PL/Overdrive Racing by Huber), Jaap van Lagen (NL/Förch Racing) and David Kolkmann (D/Black Falcon). Ninth place was occupied by Germany’s Jannes Fittje (Team Project 1 – JBR). With this result, the 19-year-old was the best driver from the Talent Pool, the support programme of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer (F/Lechner Racing Team) rounded off the top ten finishers.

Carlos Rivas (L/Black Falcon Team Textar) claimed the honour as the best driver in the amateur class. Second in this category went to Germany’s Matthias Jeserich (Cartech Motorsport by Nigrin) followed by his compatriot Stefan Rehkopf (Huber Racing).

Thanks to his three victories so far this season, ten Voorde leads the championship standings. With 75 points, the youngster from Boekelo in the Netherlands is ahead of 19-year-old Andlauer, who has 37 points to his credit. Third place is occupied by van Lagen with 29 points. Race four of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will also be contested in Most. The race, which runs as support to the ADAC GT Masters, takes off on Sunday at 13:25 hrs local time.
